Target Field Light Rail Transit Station

Minneapolis, MN

Access Point

The western edge of downtown Minneapolis is one of the most complex junctions of transportation, commerce, and urban life in the Twin Cities. As this vibrant area prepared to add even more activity with the development of Target Field, Miller Dunwiddie joined a multidisciplinary group of planners and engineers to ensure that this influx of new life would flow efficiently and positively impact the North Loop neighborhood.

Our architects and the engineering team assisted with many aspects of the redevelopment. Our focus on the area’s transportation infrastructure enables smooth multimodal access to Target Field and downtown. The Target Field station connected Northstar Commuter Rail with Metro Blue Line LRT with a vertical circulation building the threads between the stadium and active rail tracks. Our design highlights ease of use for passengers and simplicity in its visual connection to the existing streetscape. As the area continued to develop and the Interchange was built, the Target Field station continues to serve a vital function on game days by efficiently getting fans to and from the stadium.
