Harvey Hall Theatre Renovation – University of Wisconsin at Stout
Flexible Performance Space
Harvey Hall Theatre is central to many events and activities at the University of Wisconsin Stout and it’s one of the campus’s most striking architectural treasures. The school approached its renovation with great care, and brought faculty, and staff, together to make decisions about this historical and cultural asset. Miller Dunwiddie was honored to help Stout preserve and revitalize this 1916 theater.
The theater hosts music and performance events, and also serves as a teaching facility for the university’s general curriculum. We added new seats and balcony seating, re-sloped the seating area for improved sightlines, and remodeled backstage areas, including the scene shop, dressing rooms, and storage areas. New sound and light systems update the theater. Integrated smart technologies enable it to perform as a 21st century flexible classroom space. The project was completed just in time for the theater’s 100th anniversary.
